About Mahesh Mudannayaka
Mahesh Mudannayaka is our Infrastructure & Cyber Security Lead — an IT infrastructure and network engineering specialist whose career spans team leadership, cloud administration, and network implementation across Australia and Sri Lanka. He currently leads an infrastructure team at Bapcor, one of Australia's largest automotive parts groups, securing the systems a national retail network depends on.
He brings hands-on depth that most security consultants lost years ago: he has racked the servers, built the networks, administered the cloud tenancies, and carried the on-call phone — from network implementation at Lanka Logistics & Technologies and cloud administration at Creative Alley, through network engineering and IT operations roles at Truetel, All Purpose Pumps, and Crash Technology in Australia.
"Most breaches don't start with an exotic exploit — they start with an unpatched box, a flat network, or an account nobody deprovisioned. Get the fundamentals right and you're ahead of ninety percent of the threat landscape."
— Mahesh Mudannayaka, Infrastructure & Cyber Security LeadMahesh holds a Master of Information Technology from Charles Sturt University and a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Peradeniya, where he began his career as a demonstrator — a teaching instinct he still applies when handing systems and security practices over to client teams.

How Mahesh Works
Mahesh's engagements start with the fundamentals most breaches actually exploit — and fix those first, before anything exotic.
Map what you run: A clear inventory of endpoints, users, networks, and third-party connections — because you can't protect what you can't see.
Fix the fundamentals: Patch the unpatched, segment the flat network, and deprovision the accounts nobody owns. Unglamorous work that stops the majority of incidents.
Harden perimeter & identity: Firewall and perimeter hardening, identity and access management, and endpoint security across the systems your business depends on.
Plan for recovery: Backup and disaster-recovery planning so that when something does go wrong, you're back online fast — not improvising.
Hand it over: Security awareness and IT-operations uplift, so your team can hold the line long after the engagement ends.
